Legal Aspects of Post-Quantum Digital Signatures
This presentation examines the regulatory implications of the EU’s transition towards post-quantum cryptography, with specific reference to electronic signatures (eIDAS2), operational resilience (DORA), cybersecurity (NIS2, CRA), and payments (PSD2/PSD3). It analyses how EU law embeds cryptographic agility, risk-based compliance, and alignment with state-of-the-art international standards to sustain a quantum-resilient digital ecosystem. The presentation also refers to the legal validity and evidential admissibility of digitally signed contractual documents in a rapidly evolving technological and regulatory landscape, including the activation of certain workstreams for cross-jurisdictional interoperability.
