Lessons from the “Post Quantum Support Action”: Building PQC Awareness and Supporting Migration in Practice

The Post Quantum Support Action (PQSA) is an EU project aimed at raising awareness and supporting early steps toward post-quantum cryptography (PQC) adoption. This talk shares practical experiences from PQSA workshops held in universities and the automotive sector, highlighting how different communities understand and approach PQC readiness. We will present lessons learned from hands-on activities and discussions on migration paths, additionally focusing in particular on our work with PQC integration in identity and access management systems. These experiences reveal both the technical and organizational challenges that arise in real-world settings. Finally, we will outline key gaps identified in the European PQC roadmap—such as missing practical guidance, coordination across standards, and support for sector-specific transitions.
